Flannery O'Connor is Milledgeville's most famous daughter and was an
internationally famous fiction writer who wrote short stories mostly about the
South. Best known for her startling, dark, and funny short stories, she is admired
as well for her novels, essays, and letters. Since she is a writer of international
acclaim, readers and scholars from around the world visit her homeplace and
gravesite. Her country home was Andalusia (on Rte 441 north of Milledgeville).
Her town home is at 311 West Greene Street.
