Charlie B. Armstrong

Mr. Charlie B. Armstrong, son of the late Ms. Roxie Archer and the late Mr. Joe Castleberry, was born March 21, 1901 in Hancock County, Georgia. After the death of his mother he was raised by his aunt and uncle, the late Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Armstrong, whom he loved dearly as a mother and father.

At an early age he joined St. Paul C.M.E. Church and worked faithfully as a steward in the church until his health failed him. After a long illness he departed this life on Friday morning, August 21, 1981 at Talmadge Memorial Hospital in Augusta, Ga.

He married Miss Josie Clayton on Dec. 28, 1924. He leaves his wife, five daughters: Mrs. Roxie Lawson, Sparta, Ga; Mrs. Amanda Parks, Atlanta; Mrs. Alice Stewart, Cincinnati, Ohio; Mrs. Corine Rachell, Cleveland, Ohio; and Mrs. Josie Pearl Wilson, Savannah; one son Mr. Charles A. Clayton, Atlanta; 23 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Ocie Ashley, Sparta; 4 sons-in-law; one daughter-in-law; 6 sisters-in-law; 6 brothers-in-law and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. He was proceeded in death by a son, Mr. David Sam Armstrong, and 7 brothers and 3 sisters.
