Obituary
Russell C. Poss Gray, Georgia- Russell C. Poss, 84, of Stonegables Drive, died Friday, September 16, 2016, at his residence. The family will greet friends from 10:00am-11:00am, Tuesday, September 20, 2016, at First Baptist Church of Gray. Services will follow at 11:00am, in the church sanctuary with interment at 2:00pm at Sparta Cemetery. Rev. Randy Darnell and Rev. Jerry Bradley will officiate. Mr. Poss was born September 25, 1932, in Sparta and had lived in Gray for the past 10 years. He was the son of the late James Monroe Poss and Mary Frances Kitchens Poss.
Mr. Poss was a former member of Sparta Baptist Church and a member of First Baptist Church of Gray, and served as a deacon at both churches. He honorably served his country with the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a retired Assistant Engineer for the Georgia Department of Transportation and was preceded in death by a brother: Billy Poss. Mr. Poss is survived by his wife of sixty-five years: Joyce Poss; son and daughter-in-law: Russell Poss, II (Marzel); daughter and son-in-law: Candy Walton (Hugh); grandson: Oscar Walton (Lacey); granddaughters:Madelyn Poss and Tami Cohn (Nathan); great-grandchildren: Haylie Walton, Hollie Walton and Tami and Nathan Cohn's expectant child; and by a sister-in-law: Minnie Poss.
